Roadtrip to Mayfield, KY

A few weekends ago (Jan. 23-25), Corey and I took a little road trip to Mayfield Kentucky to visit our dear friends Corey and Debbie Givens and their precious children, Carley (3) and Clayton (1). Corey was able to take off work Saturday so we were able to head out Friday night after work. We hadn't seen them since the wedding and were missing them terribly so we had a great weekend of fun, food, laughing, catching up and playing with the kid-o's! They have a BEAUTIFUL new home that we were able to enjoy all weekend. Here are a few fun pictures we took on Saturday night AFTER I convinced them all to watch their wedding video from 5 years ago. I wanted to see what they all looked like before I knew them all! :-)

The gift of cooking...

I know I'm skipping around a lot but I can't "instert" things into what I already have so I just have to add new posts. Corey and I and Chad and Valerie received an EXTRA special gift this Christmas from Joe (their dad) and Debbie. Debbie made duplicate copies of all of Diane's (Corey's mom) recipes and put them all together in recipe books for us to have. It was one of the most precious gifts I've ever received. We definately weren't expecting this but ABSOLUTELY loved it! Corey and I are always asking Granny Konow for recipes that she and his mom would make, that Corey really loved and remembered them making, and now we have our very own set of the recipes - and they're even in her original handwriting. This is definately a gift that we will use often and treasure FOREVER. I've added a pictures of us opening our books at the same time - and a picture of one of the pages! So far, we've tried one of the recipes and it turned out pretty good - Corey made hot fudge cake for dessert when his family came over for dinner a few weeks ago! He's my dessert man - I don't have the patience it takes to make desserts so I cook dinner and he handles the dessert! What a "sweetie"!!

BRINGING IN THE NEW YEAR...

This was probably the most laid back New Years ever for me but it was still a great time (and we felt GREAT the next day!) Our family (mom, dad, Jamie, Nat, Corey and me) went to Nashville and had dinner at PF Changs. It was yummy as usual and the only thing that sounded decent after filling our bellies was our nice warm beds...which we all made it to before the ball dropped! Actually, I think Mom and Dad really tried hard but ended up waking up in their chairs at ten minutes after midnight....they almost made it! hehe! We, on the other hand, didn't even attempt. Corey always has to work on New Years Day so we've promised everyone some major partying in 3 years, when New Years Eve falls on a Saturday night. ha! These are photos of the 3 couples - we didn't end up getting a group shot. The highlight of the evening was when mom started dragging ou New Years hats and noise makers on the trip home. It was hillarious and she captured up posing on camera. What a wonderful way to end a great year and start a new one...with the ones we love! We wish all of you a very happy, healthy and prosperous 2009!

2008 HOLIDAYS

The holidays were quite busy for us and both of them flew by before we knew it. It's like working a puzzle making sure we don't miss a family gathering and this year for Thanksgiving and Christmas we didn't miss a stop! We are both SO lucky to have all 4 Grandmothers still living so we made it to all of the Grannys, Aunts and parents for both Holidays and enjoyed our visits at every stop. Corey used to leave the day after Thanksgiving for his annual "boys week out" hunting trip but he decided to go on our Honeymoon this year for vacation rather than sending me alone and him waiting to go with the guys hunting. Wasn't that sweet? haha! So, he attended his first Burr Thanksgiving since he didn't get to be with us last year. All of the other visits we made together last year.

I've posted a picture of the "Cline" grandchildren (Ashley and Trent Weiland, Chad and Corey) and their families that we took on Thanksgiving at Dean and Aunt Lindas. We had our very own photo shoot that day in the yard which was quite a fun experience.

Christmas was AWESOME as usual - we are so totally spoiled!! At least I've come to admit and accept that fact! I'll spare you most of the details but I have to show you all our MOST FAVORITE gift - a Handmade Cherry Jackson Press from the Colonial House in Auburn! AAAHHHH!!!! Mom and Dad had it delivered to the house a couple of days before Christmas and it is absolutely beautiful. I filled it up quickly, inside with wedding dishes and on top with TONS of pictures of our dear families. Thanks you so much mom and dad for EVERYTHING! And thanks everyone else for spoiling us at Christmas too - we love all of our presents almost as much as we love you!

I didn't take many pictures this Christmas even though we did get a new camera, so there's a picture of Jake, Corey and me the day after Christmas at Aunt Lindas. He's wearing the Romo jersey we got him for Christmas - what was that, the 3rd day in a row he had it on? haha We were just thrilled that he loved it!

HONEYMOON

After our PERFECT wedding day we traveled to Cancun for our week long honeymoon and had a wonderful and relaxing time together. We stayed much further from civilization than we had in the past when we went so this time we never even left our resort. They had everything we needed there....7 restaurants, 3 bars, a huge pool, the beach and LOTS of SUN! What more could you ask for? The week was great other than the mosquitos that would visit every afternoon in swarms and send us inside early to get away from them!!! We had lots of time to get rested for the busy holiday seson that we were coming home to.

Thurmond/Konow Wedding

November 1, 2008 was the long awaited BIG day. We got engaged on July 2nd and were married almost exactly 4 months later. It was without a doubt the most wonderful day of our lives. We had the MOST wonderful wedding planner EVER, Mom, with TONS of help from Lydia and lots of other wonderful family and friends, and all together they were able to pull off a PERFECT wedding day for Corey and me. I could post pages full of details but I'll spare you all most of that and let you enjoy the pictures. These are just some that Aunt Nadean took with her camera ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/cjkonow2/sets/72157612611619774/show/with/3199070573/) but feel free to look at our photographers website pics, which will be posted until the end of February, at http://www.divineimages.net/ - client login - password: konow

Thank you to everyone for you love and support - whether you were there with us that day or kept us in your prayers from miles away. We love you all and are absolutely loving our new life together!

Welcome

Hey everyone - I think this blogging thing is SO neat that I just had to try it for myself. I thought this would be a fun way to share pictures and what's going on with some of you that we don't get to see as often as we like. I realize usually people do this to share pictures of their kids - but for now, you're just going to have to be satisfied with the two of us! :-) Since I can't seem to get organized to start scrapbooking again - this is going to have to serve as my less time consuming alternative. These are just a few pictures of us while we were dating but I'm going to skip to the really good part next...our wedding!
