3 MONTHS!

I guess I'll say this every month for the rest of my life BUT I just can't believe it!  Sydney Diane is 3 months old, and her Daddy and Mama think she's still the most precious little thing they've ever seen, of course!

My Mom keeps telling me to "write it down" every time something new happens and I'm VERY bad at that so I have to think back over the past month and try to remember some of the new things she's been doing...

She's definitely been ALL SMILES this month!  She is constantly grinning and cooing at everyone!  She especially loves Daddy who, I must admit, was the first to make her laugh out loud!  It was the sweetest thing I've ever heard.

Her feet are the coolest toy she's found so far and the fact that they can look different, according to which socks or shoes we have on her, absolutely blows her mind!  She spends lots of time throughout the day just wiggling her feet and watching them.  She really notices them in her carseat, which is perfect to occupy her when we're on the road.  She also has realized that she has a tongue in her mouth and likes sticking it out, too.

She is sleeping wonderfully at night!  Usually she sleeps from about 9 pm to around 8:30 am!  I had no idea babies would actually sleep that long but this little chick sure does and I love it!  Sometimes she doesn't wake up at all to eat in the night - and other times she gets up around 5:00 to get her diaper changed, eat, and go back to sleep!  I usually take my shower right before she gets up so she'll be up to watch me dry my hair - she LOVES my red hairdryer and won't take her eyes off of it the whole time.  I roll her pack-n-play into the bathroom and let her lay in it and stretch while she watches!  It's priceless to see her watching me.  I guess she's learning early how to fix her hair - I love it!!

She has been taking her Prevacid regularly this month and it seems to be helping a lot!  Of course she still spits up some after she eats but we are so thankful that it's nothing like it was.  I'm not washing soaked burpcloths on a daily basis like I was!  I don't think it ever really bothered her but it was sure pitiful to watch her do it soooo much.

Sydney is still wearing mostly 0-3 month clothes, some of which she is on the verge of outgrowing.  It could happen any day.  She did outgrow the 0-3 month sleepers about a week ago and had to move to the 3-6 month ones.  I put a pair of size 1 sandles on her this Sunday for church and they were a little big but they worked.  I really wanted her to be able to get some wear out of them this year because it's now or never!  She's still doing good with size 1 diapers - of course we're going through them like crazy!  She really can't stand to have a wet/dirty diaper very long at all!  Every time she starts to fuss the first thing we do is check the diaper and that usually solves the problem immediately.

I must admit that we're dealing with a little bit of a challenge in one area.  :)  She has become VERY clingy to her Mama lately - to the point that all of a sudden, she'll realize that I don't have her and she throws a HUGE FIT!  It hurts my heart because I LOVE the fact that she wants me to have her BUT I want other people to be able to hold and watch her too without her getting so upset!  I keep telling Mom and Corey nobody will ever want to keep her but they assure me that this too shall pass.  I've got to say that Grandma can sure hang with her during those fits and eventually she gets over it and looks up and grins at her!  What a little stinker!

As usual, we've stayed ON THE GO CONSTANTLY this past month and as usual, she's been a trooper!  She wouldn't know what to do if we stayed home all day!  She's great on the go and seems to handle whatever is going on.  She's spent some time with Aunt Nat Nat and lots of time with Grandad and Grandma, too!  They are such wonderful help whenever I have meetings, errands, or work to do!  We don't know what we would do without them!!!  I love the fact that she's going to grow up seeing them almost every day, too!  She also spent a few hours with Miss Mary Thomas (sorry MTV, you are her elder and she's got to use her manners!) who got to witness a breakdown "I miss my Mama" moment but they made it through just fine.  :)

Sydney spent her first night away from home this month.  We spent a weekend in Mayfield celebrating Corey Givens' birthday and she did great.  We wondered how she would react to a 2 1/2 hour ride, new surroundings, and lots of stuff going on but she did great!  We were so relieved.  Now we're starting to prepare ourselves for an 8 hour car ride and 7 night stay in Floriday next month.  Lets hope the end result is the same!

Sydney reminds us on a daily basis how blessed we are to have a beautiful, healthy, and happy baby!  I often wonder how we got so lucky?

Happy 3 Month Birthday Baby Girl!
We love you, Daddy and Mama

SUPRISE, Corey Givens!

This past weekend we took a little roadtrip to Mayfield, KY to help celebrate Corey Givens turning the big 4-0!  This was Sydney's first overnight adventure and I can honestly say she was perfect!

Corey, Sydney, and I were part of the whole "plan" in helping surprise him so we left after Corey got off work Friday and stayed the night with them Friday night.  We stayed up way past our bedtime on Friday night hanging with them by the pool but we have oh, so much fun together just visiting!  Sydney loved visiting with two of her new best friends, too!  She loves Carley and Clayton bunches.

On Saturday morning, Corey and Corey (yeah, I get so tired of both of them saying Huh? every time I say that name when we're together. ha!  They just call eachother by their last names) went to play golf while Debbie and I (and 3 kid-o's) set up for a surprise birthday party in overdrive mode!!  Thank goodness somebody took a 3 hour nap and let her Mama work on getting the party together.  Instead of taking the pack-n-play we just made her a bed on the floor and it worked great!

Needless to say, it was a successful surprise!  He had no idea (or so he says) and lots of friends and family were there to celebrate!  Since we had lots of time to visit on Friday night and Saturday, we came on home Saturday night.  I sure didn't want to press my luck with Sydney staying 2 nights.

It was a wonderful weekend with our fabulous (OLD!) friend (and his beautiful YOUNG wife!) and we were so GLAD to be a part of the big weekend!  We love you Givens and hope 40 treats you well!!!

SWEET corn!

Sydney made it to her first "corn day" at Grandmama's this week (7.6.10) and boy did she enjoy it!  She was sooooo good!  This is an annual July event that we've been doing as long as I can remember.  The two of us picked up Mae (she's one of Granny's friends and used to ride out with Granny to help us and still wanted to come this year) and headed to the country about 8:30.  Mom, Dad, and Jeffery had it shucked and Grandmama and Aunt Shirley were there already silking and cutting so we just joined right in the fun when we arrived.  I took Sydney's bouncy seat and she just sat right in the middle of the corn (literally) and laughed and talked to everyone for hours.  When it was nap time we brought a quilt down and she laid on it and napped until time to wake up and play again.  We made an entire day of it and have a freezer full of sweet corn to show for it.  Yum!!!

Mama's little firecracker!

We had our own little firecracker this year to celebrate the 4th of July with, and boy did we celebrate!  Corey said it felt more like Christmas with all of the running around that we did, but we didn't want to miss anything.  Needless to say, by Sunday night we were all 3 exausted after a fun filled weekend.

Friday night started our weekend with dinner at Grandma and Grandad's with Uncle Doug, Aunt Barbara and Grandmama.  We grilled steaks and visited out on the back porch.  Grandma stole Sydney for a photo shoot before supper.

On Saturday (7.3.10) Corey and I had lunch with all of the Burr 1st cousins and spouses at Sol Azteca.  The rule was "no aunts, uncles or babies" so it was a great opportunity for us all to get together and visit with eachother.  Some of the cousins from out of town were in so it was great catching up with them.

On Saturday night we all gathered at Cousin Carrie's "Cook Farms Country Club" for food (of course) and fun.  Mom brought supper, Aunt Shirley brought desserts and the Cooks opened their home to us all for a night of swimming, cornhole, and lots of visiting. Sydney was already pooped by the time we got there so she found a comfy spot on Aunt Nat and then Grandma and spent most of the evening there.

Sunday we started the day off with Sunday School and Church and boy did the Burr family represent at church.  And you can probably guess what came next....lunch at Grandma's for the entire Burr clan.  We had a house full and Sydney got to visit with lots of family she hadn't gotten to see much before like cousin Hope in this picture.  Of course Grandad had to entertain.

We had a few hours before our next stop so Corey and Sydney took advantage of a few minutes of rest together.

Our last stop of the weekend was at Papoos for the Konow 4th of July celebration.  As soon as we hit the door Sydney made her nest in Papoo's lap since she hadn't seen him in a while.  Then she made her rounds through all of the other family and ended up back with Mama when she got tired.  We watched the fireworks in the A/C this year - out the front room window at Papoo's while Sydney slept right through them.  She woke up on our way out to laugh at Papoo and tell everyone bye.

Sydney has news!

That's right, Uncle Jamie and Aunt Nat Nat are expecting a baby in February!!!  We are so excited for them and hope Aunt Nat starts feeling better soon.  She's been pretty blah lately with some sicnkess and we know how awful that can be!  We can't wait to find out if Sydney will have a boy or girl cousin in a few months!  They are about 8 weeks right now!  Congrats you two, we love ya!
