We've got the BEST!!!

Corey, Sydney and I have the BEST Daddy's in the world and last weekend we celebrated them!!!

We got a jump start on the actual day and celebrated with Grandad on Saturday night.  Sydney helped him open his presents, Jamie & Daddy even got one from Grandma and Grandad, then we loaded up and went to Bowling Green to the Catfish House.  After we got our belly's full of fish (NOT!!) we headed over to my new love....Stakz (this made the 3rd night in a row for me & Stakz but don't tell!!).

I started a tradition last year on Corey's 1st father's day...attempting one of his favorite breakfast items.  Well, last year failed (homemade pancakes) but this year was a success.  He talkes about eating cinnamon toast that his Mama made him when he was a kid so I decided to go for it.  It was VERY easy to make and a crowd pleaser at our house.  Yay...so I'm 1 for 2 on the Father's Day Breakfast Success chart.

We spent the morning at church, had a good lunch that Grandma fixed and then came home for a relaxing afternoon since Corey was rained out of the field.  Then we packed up and headed to Bowling Green that night to celebrate with Papoo and Uncle Chad (and the fam) for Father's Day.  Sydney LOVED being with her cousins while we waited at Longhorn.  And guess what we did after supper....Stakz....they twisted my arm!! haha!!!

I am so lucky to have the most amazing Dad who has always been a big part of my life and who is now the best Grandad that Miss Sydney could ever have.
And Sydney is more lucky than she'll ever know because she has the BEST Daddy in the world.  The moment she was born, our lives changed forever and Corey has stepped up and been the most loving, helpful, and caring Daddy any little girl could ever ask for.  We both love him so much!  He works so hard to make us both happy and we couldn't ask for anything more!!

It was a special day for our daddy's but I hope they all know that every day is special because of the wonderful father's they have always been to us all!  We sure love Papoo, Grandad and Daddy!!

oh, BABY shower

On Saturday afternoon....Grandma, Sydney and I went to a baby shower for one of my oldest and dearest friends...Abby Wilhite Raines and soon to be John Patrick.  There were lots of friends and family there showering Abby and John Patrick with sooooo many nice things!

Of course Sydney didn't want to sit still long at all.  Thank goodness for Grandma who entertained her the majority of the time!

We were so happy to get to visit with some of my friends' kids...and Sydney's little playmates!  I love the fact that so many of MY friends have little ones so close to Sydney's age.  Poor little John Patrick isn't going to stand a chance with all of these girls!!  She played with her buddy Cecilia Miller for a while at the table...
Then she rolled around in the floor with Grayson Bush....

Then she posed in a picture with her new friend, Brexley Moss.  She loved Brexley and really wanted to kiss her face!  We had to hold her back! :)

bIrThDaY FUN!

It's been a fun week celebrating my 28th Birthday with my friends and family!  I am SO LUCKY to have them all!!!
I started my birthday off with some fun at the pool...we went early to try to beat the rain....and we just barely did!  Natalie, Jackson, Sydney and I went swimming with Meghann, Grayson, Taylor and Ragen at The Reasonover's....just like we used to do growing up! :)  Miss Sydney is a water bug and LOVES being anywhere wet!

Fastforward to Wednesday night...the hubby took me out to one of my favorite places...Maggiano's!  This was regularly schedule for Saturday night.  He was just gonna take off work so we could go out BUT with this crazy weather, they couldn't get in the field and he came home early so we could go out on my actual bday!  It was a yummmmmmy supper and we're still eating the leftovers!  Did I mention that he got me like the GREATEST birthday present in the world?!?!  He surprised me on Tuesday and had my car detailed!  I mean seriously...I feel like I have a brand new car!  Only problem is I am freaking out over getting it dirty now and really just want to leave it sitting in the garage! :)  So, I've been driving the truck...

Then on Thursday my FABULOUS sistah planned a girls night out birthday dinner for me!  It was so wonderful.  We went to BG and had dinner at 440 Main and then dessert at Stakz (my new favorite place in the world!!!).  It was so fun being the girls!!!  Thanks sooooo much Nat Nat for planning, Mom & Dad for "treating" us all, and girls for coming to celebrate with me!

Fun times!

SDK in photos...

Since I'm not doing my "month posts" anymore I feel like I'm not documenting enough of what's going on with Sydney these days unless it's a special event that I blog about so I thought I'd share some random pictures from the last month or so...and some random things going on with this chick...
Yes...in the pitcute above she's eating deli ham...how appropriate! :)  This is one of her favorite things for lunch.  She loves anything she can rip to shreads and still manage to get in her mouth.  She's still eating a lot of baby food but we're really trying to introduce "big food" to her every day.  Her absolute favorite food in the world is roast and carrotts!  I mean she'll tear a roast up!!!  Last night she shared a t-bone steak with Daddy and she loved it too!  He's so excited to have a meat-eating friend in the house. lol!

She's changing and growing up FAST with something new coming out of her little mouth EVERY DAY.  She has started to repeat  A LOT of what we say.  Granted, we may be the only ones who can understand her but I know what she's up to.  She's a little copy cat....which is scary.  Here are a few of her new words..."I got it", "meow", "all done", "ball", "Daddy" (HALLELUIAH!!!!!), "Nat Nat", "Jake", "Papoo", "Hummmm" , "baby", and "Please".  I know there are others but that's all I can understand or think of right now.

Sydney still isn't walking full time but she's sure getting there.  Around the first of May (10th or so) she got really good at walking from one person to another with no help.  That's about all she's still interested in, really.  She's only gotten up and walked a few steps on her own if she's trying to get to Jake or Caleb. :)  Otherwise, we really have to coach her to come to us.  I'm sure it will happen any day now but until then she's either holding our hand to walk or crawling.

Daddy has been EXTREMELY busy since April and it's probably going to be like that until he gets a break (maybe) in July and August.........so I found out a long time ago that the best way to cope with him being gone so much is to STAY BUSY and that's exactly what Sydney and I have been doing!  Shew!  We spend time having play dates, visiting with family and friends, planning and decorating for parties, jazzercising, running errands, playing outside, swimming, going to ballgames, and shopping and by the end of the day we're pooped!!!!  But Sydney's used to it because it's all she knows! :)

We've had a fun summer so far and we're looking forward to the rest with Miss Sydney. She is at such a fun age that there's never a dull moment in our lives.  We are constantly cracking up...and running after her!  It can't get any better than this!!!!!!!

Bless her!

Well...we had our first experience with a really, really sick baby starting on Memorial day and lasting all week.  She was soooo pitiful.  She ran a really high temp, had a double ear infection and had a cough that sounded like it was coming from her toenails!  So we had to take it easy for a few days and instead of chasing her around, I had to do a lot of sitting and snuggling...which I didn't mind a bit!  When I found her for the first time like this (for more than 5 seconds) I knew something was wrong...

This was one of her favorite spots too...all laid back watching Elmo.
And she had some naps on Mama too.  She was so pitiful I hated to put her down.
She finished up her antibiotics this week and seems to finally be back to 100%.  It was a long hard week for her, but she was a trooper through it all!

Old Friends

On Saturday, May 28th Corey and I hosted a gathering for some of my old high school girlfriends.  I've stayed in touch with most of these girls through the years but we're nowhere as tight as we were back in the day and we're all trying to change that! I'm so excited because I have a blast with these girls!  But my how things have changed...jobs, husbands, babies, oh my!  It was so great to catch up with these girls...it's like we haven't missed a beat!
We planned this little gathering for two reasons...#1 so we could visit and catch up and #2 so our spouses could get to know eachother a little better before our big 10 year reunuion coming up in a few weeks!  Aaahhh!  Yeah, that's right.  It's reunuion time and we are just tryin to help the guys out a litttle since they won't know very many people.  So, the next time we'll all see eachother will be on June 25th at the Roxy for our class reunuion....I'm looking forward to it, I think!?!?

Soak up the SUN!

We joined the country club this year so Sydney could have lots of swim time.  This was our first visit (6.5.11) and it was a PERFECT one because Daddy got to go with us!!!!! We stayed in the baby pool the whole time so Sydney could get comfortable with the water.  She started out on the side playing...

...and it didn't take long for her to venture in!  We had to hang on tight to her because she wanted to do her thing!  She loved the water.  It was like a big bath tub to her.

Her favorite thing to do was have Daddy lift her out of the water and set her out of the pool, and then back into the water and out again... x100.

She wanted to venture around and see what was going on everywhere else after she was done swimming.

What a FUN day at the pool!  I'm so glad she loves the water.  We went back yesterday (6.9.11) just the two of us and got in the big pool.  She already thinks she's too big for the baby pool now!  She even let me dunk her under (over and over again) and loved it!  Looks like we've got a little water baby on our hands this Summer!!!  Let the good times roll!!

86 years YOUNG!

On May 19th, the Burr family celebrated Grandmama's 86th Birthday with a surprise birthday dinner at the Catfish House in Springfield. (Her actual b-day was the 20th)  Aunt Barbara had it all planned out and we just did what we were told...showed up for supper! ha!  You can't tell it here but I think we excited her JUST A LITTLE when she saw us all there!

We got to meet the newest great grandbaby while we were there...Whyson Hastings Young.

Five out of eight of Grandmama's great-grandchildren got to be there that night so we got them all together....Sydney, Jackson, Macey, Eliza and Whyson.

Sydney hung out with her cousin Carrie for a while...she love her!!!

It was a wonderful night with family being together to celebrate our Grandmama!  We are truly lucky to be able to share these times with her and eachother!

Nat's B-day

I'm weeks behind giving Aunt Nat Nat her "birthday shout out" but I still wanted to post some pics of her Birthday dinner at none other than our favorite italian eatery....Maggianos!  Corey, Sydney and I met them all for birthday dinner after Katelyn's dance recital on 5.15.11 and oh was it TO DIE FOR YUMMY!  Jackson was the hungriest of all and had his silverware ready...

Everyone but me, of course, could live on Chicken Parmesan...they love it!   And the best part is they keep bringing it till you're full!
Nat's sweet family on her birthday...

Oh yeah, she's smiling BIG because she's about to dig in to the BEST CHEESECAKE EVER!  Make a wish!!!

Sorry we're late, Aunt Nat....but we LOVED spending your birthday with you and THANK YOU for picking Maggianos for supper!  ha!  Can we please go back soon for more cheesecake????

CELEBRATING MKK!!!

The Konow's have spent several of our weekends over the last month celebrating our favorite F-S high school graduate....our niece Katelyn!  We have enjoyed every single minute of being a part of this special time in her life and we're so proud of her.  Her first "Senior" activity was prom on 5.14.11 and y'all, she was gawgeous!! :)  Of course at each of these events, we have to do the KK/Sydney pic!

The next day was another special and memorable event, her Allstarz dance recital on 5.15.11.  She did a fabulous job dancing!  We were worried about how much of the recital we would get to see and how much we'd be fighting with Sydney but to our surprise, Sydney was on her BEST behavior and we got to see it all.  I didn't get very many pics...just one after the recital with all 3 of her cousins ...

Our next weekend 5.22.11 was spent at KK's graduation open house which was wonderful (except for the strong winds and rain that almost destroyed everything an hour before it started!!!!).  We had to go with plan B on some of our decorations....but it's all good! :)  Katelyn was happy and got to spend the afternoon visiting with her friends and family so that = SUCCESS to me!  Here are a few pics of what was left of our decorations....

And of course, Sydney had a big time getting lots of attention...

And then came the big day she's been waiting for...Graduation Day on 6.4.11.  Her cheering section headed to WKU to watch her graduate and become a big kid, as she called it!

Katelyn.....you can't know how proud we are of you!  We love you and wish you the absolute BEST as you enter this brand new (and kinda scary) phase of your life.  We hope you love WKU!!!  Have fun...but study hard! :)  We're glad you won't be too far away because your little "nuggett" wouldn't like it very much if you were too far away.  We love you BUNCHES!
