Grandma's Happy Day

We celebrated Grandma's 51st Birthday with not QUITE as much style and excitement as last year...BUT it was just as special (9.8.11)!
Grandma picked somewhere "different" that we didn't go to often.  Cheddars.  Can't say that we're looking forward to going back again anytime soon for the food....but we may stop and watch the fish in the giant tank.  That's ALL Sydney wanted to do the WHOLE time we were there (get my drift?)!

Sydney really couldn't stand to let Grandma open her gifts all by herself!  In fact, she just wanted to do it for her!!

Sweet Jackson wallered Grandad for a while.  He LOVES to pull hair. Ouch! :)

And no Thurmond/Konow/Summers family outing is completel without dessert from Stakz.  Grandma wanted to pose with her babies...it's soooooo hard to get them to both look at the camera!!

We sure do LOVE Grandma and we LOVED celebrating her Birthday with her.  Even though we're 3 weeks late in blog-land...Happy Birthday Grandma!  We wish you many, many more!!

Little Stinker

I thought this was too cute not to share!

All I have to say is she is SUCH A MESS!  I made her pose for me on the first "cool" day this fall before we headed out the door to Jazzercise.  You can bet my hands are full 24/7!  Love her!!!

Corn Box

Introducing one of our favorite fall activities...
Playing in the Corn Box!  Would this fall under, you might be a redneck if: You fill a swimming pool up with corn....invite friends over.....and put the kids in the corn?!?  ha!

Well, this Mama doesn't care cause the kid-o's had a blast!  Sydney loves pouring sand from one container to another.  She had fun playing with Carter and Grayson too!  We just couldn't keep it out of Grayson's mouth! lol!

It's like our greatest invention ever.......come on out to the Konow's for some redneck entertainment!

After the corn box we moved on to other things, like the swing and slide.

And then Jackson came by and took a wagon ride with the babies!  Isn't this just a hoot?!?!

Not EvEn COOL!

Actually, it was more like 100 degrees.
Yeah, on the day we decide to have a big group field trip and lug all of the kid-o's to Jackson's Orchard.  Big, big, mistake!  Me, Nat, Sydney, Jackson and Jake rode together and Meghann, Carter, Grayson and Ragen followed us.

I mean, don't get me wrong, I love visiting Jackson's Orchard and the kids do too but last Friday (9.2.11) NONE of us enjoyed our visit because it was so stinkin hot!
We started with the cider slider which was fun for about 20 seconds.  After packing Sydney up 3 flights of steps I did my best to distract her with something other than the slide. :)

Then we went under the tent (thought it would be cooler there, ha!) and took pictures of the babies whilethe big kids climbed around on the big straw bales until we thought we were gonna have to give them CPR because they were turning red and sweating profusely.  PLUS the babies got fussy....ahhhh!  So what in the world do we do now????

Go inside and get what we came for....PEACHES!  I've been dying for some peaches so we got a wagon full!  I got two boxes for myself and decided I was gonna get crafty making "peach stuff".  I made peach cobbler and cheesecake in a jar with peaches and then realized something really important...the peaches had NO flavor whatsoever.  Uggggggh!  These peaches just weren't meant to be!

Anyway, after 30 total minutes at Jackson's Orchard, 3 hot mama's and 6 hot, sweaty, whiney kids......we packed ourselves up and headed HOME!  As you can see, Sydney shed a little tear of joy when we left, lol!  Looks like we're gonna have to wait for some fall weather before we venture back to Jackson's Orchard.

These are a few of HER favorite things...

You're thinking of the Sound of Music song, aren't ya!?!?
I've done a terrible job of documenting Sydney's "life" since her first Birthday and I'm so ashamed....not sure what happened, but I don't like it.  Anyway...thought this would be cute becuase she's definitely choosing her own "favorite things" these day.  So, if nothing else it's so I can remember what she LOVED when she was 161/2 months old...and so she can look back and laugh about it some day.

Sydney's FaVoRiTe..............

...color: purple (puple) and blue (bloo) since they're the only two she'll say and sometimes recognize :)

...song: she stops in her tracks to do the motions to "If you're happy and you know it".  Priceless!!!!  Also loves Jesus Loves me....I sing it to her every night. As far as music on the radio or at church, she loves really upbeat songs!

...book: Elmo & Friends Look & Find book.  We read it every night...she never lets us forget.  And she's learning what the pictures are.  Last night she said "apple", "birdie", "bowl", "elmo", "doggie", "kitty cat" when she was pointing to the pictures. :)

...playmate:  I gotta say Jackson.  She asks for him multiple times a day and goes absolutely nuts when she sees him!  And as you can see above...Jackson is up for just about anything. haha!  And when they're all pooped out, they're fine just hanging out in the floor staring at eachother.  These two are TrOuBlE x 2!

...words:  maybe not her favorite - but they're mine! :)  Amen, Purple, Blue, Cracker, Kitty Cat, Doggie, Jackson, Milk, Elmo, Daddy, Mommie.......oh, the list goes on and on! She has her own cute little "baby" way of saying them all that just melts our hearts.

...food:  cooked carrotts, green beans, pinto beans, pasta, pizza.  I literally feed the kid green beans, brown beans and carrotts at least one meal a day.  She loves anything she can "fork" herself!  That was our solution to her not eating well....just let her do it herself and there's no problem! Above she's eating a ham sandwich (not really one of her favorites) with a fork.  Whatever works, little girl!

...place to watch t.v.: Her Elmo chair/couch/bed was by far the best purchase we've ever made.  She hangs out in it while she watches Sesame Street, of course!  And it's perfect for two. :)

...addiction: her paci.  aahhhh!  Just this week I've started giving it to her ONLY when she's sleeping.  My reason for this was, she wouldn't take it out to talk and you, of course, couldn't understand her with it in.  I sure didn't want it to be a stumbling block in her speech development.  So, the first day she only asked for it 541,687 times but I think she knows now that she only gets paci when she takes a nap or goes night night.  I'm afraid we COULD have to drag it out during church to keep her quiet if need be BUT I guess there are exceptions to every rule. Geeze!  As far as letting her have it while she sleeps...I'm good with that for a while.  The child just loves it soooo much.  Yeah, I'm a softie about SOME things.

...dessert: Anything ChOcOlAtE!  Definitely her father's child.  You say the word dessert and she lights up...she realizes it's chocolate and it's all over!!!!  In the above picture she was eating a piece of chocolate cake...ate the whole thing!

...day of the week: I'm gonna have to say Wednesdays....cause it's Grandma day (and usually Aunt Nat Nat & Jackson day too!)  So she's got all of her favorites all in one house all day long!  Of course it's her favorite day!!  But my favorite days with her are Sundays for two BIG reasons.  We get Daddy all day and I get to play dress-up with my little "baby" girl before church. ha!

...vacation spot: Her one and only thus far...the beach!  She loves the water, the sand, the sun and the company!  So...the beach it is! :)

...t.v.show: bet this one will shock you...Sesame Street.  It's still about the only show she'll watch.  Yeah, it's bad when I start quoting parts of Sesame Street.

...character: Guessed it again, Elmo or as she says, Elbo!  He's for real like her BFF!  She loves that little furry, red creature to death!  Any guesses on what she's going to be for halloween?!?!?!  ha!  Elbo it is!!!

...summer activities: The Water!  We spent several hours in the pool this Summer and she is such a little "not-scared" water baby!  We had to get a strap-on float for her because she doesn't want you touching her.  She'll go under, jump in, kick around or just play the whole time!  And the water doesn't have to be in the "big" pool either...she had fun playing and Grandma and Grandad's in the little pool and with the hose, too.  One of her other favorite Summer activities was farming with daddy.  She got to ride in the tractor with him a few times and had a huge time exploring.  Of course when we go farm, we do what most farmers do...wear our farm hat and sometimes our boots.  :)

I am absolutely loving this age with her...at least MOST days! :) ha!  That little stinker makes me happier (and sometimes madder) than any one little human being in the world.  She's my happy, friendly, independent, stubborn, beautiful, active, HOT MESS!!!  and I love her more than anything in this world!
