Little Trooper

Sydney was such a big girl last Friday at her 2 month checkup at Dr. Fraser's - and I mean that in more than one way.:)
Just resting on Daddy in the waiting room before our appointment.

Nurse Holly gave her 3 shots and man was she a trooper!  I was one proud mama!  I've heard horror stories of the mother about having to be packed out of the doctors office because she was so upset after the baby got her shots and I did not want to be "that Mom" and lucky for all of us, I wasn't.  Corey and I held her hand and talked to her right in her face while she received 3 of the fastest shots I've ever know of in my life.  I literally had no idea she had gotten all 3 of them when the nurse told me I could pick her up.  I'm not saying Sydney didn't cry, because she did, but it didn't last long and we just held her tight and loved on her until she forgot about it.  What a big girl!!

All sprawled out on the table before her shots - she had no idea what was coming. :(

And speaking of big girl, she weighed 11 pounds 11 oz and was 24 inches tall.  Her Daddy guessed her to be around 12 pounds and he was pretty close.  We were thrilled to know that she was growing as she should be so our only job is to keep doing what we're doing! We can handle that!

Bible School

We honored Great Grandmama Burr's wishes and enrolled Sydney in Bible School the night she went with me - and here she is showing off her "teacher" and her name tag.

I helped Mom with crafts on Thursday night (6.17.10) and her Daddy was working so Grandad agreed to be Sydneys teacher on her first night of Bible School.  FYI...I caught them BOTH sleeping in the nursery with the lights off when I went to pick her up!  ha!

Daddys Day

We celebrated Coreys 1st Fathers Day a week ago.  Our Sunday started off pretty normal other than the fact that  I got up a few minutes earlier than usual to try my hand at his moms homemade pancake recipe.  All I have to say is thank goodness I was prepared with a back-up option!  Bless his heart, he ate 1 pancake and the whole time I was telling him he didn't have to do that just to be nice.  Still not sure what went wrong or what made them "doughey" as he described it but I'm tatally thinkin Bisquick next time.

After we ate our backup cinnamon rolls he opened his presents and cards from Sydney and me...a "Daddys girl" picture frame, a worlds greates Dad tervis tumbler, socks, and get this...a box set DVD collection of the show Modern Marvels!  Can you believe I got him this???  It went along with the stipulation that he only watches them when I'm gone!

We had a special day at church too.  We had a baby dedication for Sydney and Corey's family was able to be there with us, so both of our Dad's were in church with us for a really good Father's Day sermon.

(My Dad and his girls)
After a quick lunch at Grandma and Grandad's, the three of us spent the afternoon together taking a Sunday stroll and then we went and picked up the rest of Daddy's Father's Day present.  Sydney and I got him a Japaneese Cherry tree so he could plant it on his 1st Fathers Day and watch it grow for many years to come.  It blooms pink in the Spring, right around Sydney's Birthday, so we thought that would be special to him.
(Daddy had to plant his own tree later in the week)

We ended the day at Cracker Barrell with the Konow's.  Granny Konow treated all of her "boys" for Father's Day.  We had to wait FOREVER and Sydney was really good until it was time for us to eat so Corey and I had to switch up eating/holding her.  Corey took her outside to rock in the famous C.B. rocking chairs and she was good to go!

Overall it was a great day and we were sooo glad that Daddy didn't have to work and we got to spend the day with him!

2 MONTHS

While I was thinking to myself this afternoon about all of the things that have happened and changed with you over the past month I couldn't do anything but pick you up and hold you tight for about an hour, even though I had plenty of other things to do this afternoon, because it makes me sad to think about you growing up and changing so much right before our eyes.

The past month has been a blast with you!  You've decided that you like to show us how much fun you're having too by grinning from ear to ear anytime you see or hear something funny!  We all love making you laugh and smile - it's without a doubt the cutest thing that your Daddy and I have ever seen in our lives!  We make funny noises, tickle your belly, or kiss your neck until you can't grin at us any more.  My goodness, I never want these days to end!

Grinning isn't the only thing you've been doing this month, you've also been growing a lot!  We go to the doctor on Friday (6/25) for your 2 month doctors appointment to see if Daddy's weight prediction is right.  He's thinking you weigh about 12 pounds and I can't say that I disagree!  You just grew into a big baby right in front of our eyes and if anybody doubts that, all they have to do is look at the adorable little rolls on your legs!  Size 0-3 clothes fit you perfectly right now but that could change in a matter of days at the rate you're growing, and you're wearing size 1 diapers.

Your favorite time of day is still the morning - you definitely take after your Mama.  We could spend hours in the morning playing after you wake up as long as your diaper is clean and your belly full - those two things are necessities of course!  You have even started to enjoy your morning bath, thank goodness!  You are still spitting up something terrible but it usually doesn't phase you one bit.  It definitely bothers us more than it does you!  We're hoping that starts to die down the older you get.
(Done yet?)

You still aren't really into many toys yet unless Grandma is the one shaking them in your face and you love that!  You're more into entertaining yourself by looking at the lights and fans in our house and you always like to have music playing somewhere.  Classical is your favorite!  Your Daddy and I have heard your classical music played so many times that we go around humming it all day long (in the same order as it's played)!  Who would have known!?

Your sleeping/eating habits have evolved a little during the past three weeks.  During the day you still eat about every 4 hours, if not before, but in the night we let you decide when you're hungry rather than waking you up.  So far you're pretty consistent in waking up around 5 1/2 to 6 hours after your last feeding which means that Mama only has to get up once in the night - yay!  You've slept all night (about 10-5:30) for 3 nights in the past month, but not in a row, so we're just waiting until you're ready to start making that a habit. Really I'm not in any hurry, I enjoy that sweet time with you.
(I've posed enough - I'm out!)

Just a couple of days ago you found something really cool  - your feet!  I have caught you checking them out several times and you just stare down as you move them around.  It's fascinating to you and absolutely adorable to us!  I think you were really impressed when you realized there were pretty Sunday shoes on your feet yesterday.

We definitely haven't stayed at home this month - we've been on the go!  You're completely happy in the car and never mind us dragging you around with us.  We have taken you lots of places to eat and shop this month and you've been almost as sweet as pie everywhere we go, minus a few fussy minutes here and there but I'm not complaining one bit!  Of course, we've spent lots of time at Grandad and Grandma's too.  When in doubt (or bored) we pack up and head over there!  You absolutely love spending time there and playing with whoever is around.  Thank goodness we're so close to them and you get to see them almost every day!!!  That makes you one lucky little girl!

Speaking of lucky - your Daddy and Mama sure are lucky to have such a sweet and happy little girl to love!  You make everyday an exciting new adventure and we love you more and more each day.  These are definitely the moments and we are so thankful for you!

Love, Daddy and Mama

TwEnTy-SeVeN!

Thanks to everyone who called, texted, sent cards, visited, or gave me a gift for my 27th Birthday!  You all made my day special!  Thanks especially to Mom, Dad, Nat, Corey, and Sydney for your late night birthday visit/party!  You helped make a long day at home not so bad after all!  I am so lucky to have you all!
I told Corey and Dad that there was no use in taking pictures because I was NOT going to put any pics of me on the blog but I thought I would do this post just to humor them.  And I couldn't resist this one of Sydney either - she was fascinated with my candles.

I bleed blue (or pink)

There is absolutely no chance in the world that Sydney will grow up being anything but a lil Wildcat!  Her Grandad got her this outfit and matching booties for Christmas (yes, before she was even born) and even though it's pink I'd say she definitely will bleed blue - at least as long as she wants to stay on Grandad's good side!  His first item of business, as soon as she can speak her first word, is to teach her the C-A-T-S, CATS, CATS, CATS cheer!  Good luck with that, Grandad (and Sydney)!

Busy weekend!

This is a delayed recap of Sydneys busy weekend.  I had my camera handy all weekend so I thought I'd show her off.

We started off Friday wishing we were at the beach!  I thought if Sydney wore her beach outfit and she smiled really pretty that it might convince her  Daddy to take off this week and take us to the beach.  Ha!  Not quite, wheat is the only thing on his mind this week - not the beach!  :(
Since the beach was out of the question we decided that golf with Grandad on Friday evening would be pretty fun AND we would get to be outside.  So Sydney had her first trip to the golf course.  She stayed awake through the first couple of holes and then got bored with us and snoozed the rest of the ride.  The train going by didn't even phase her.  The only thing that made her jump was Grandad teeing off.  She would jump every time.
Grandad tried to get her to hold the club but it was a little big.  Guess we'll have to add a set of clubs to her Christmas list.  Corey and I already decided that if she wanted to play a sport when she gets bigger we would like for it be golf which probably means she'll hate golf and love soccer or basketball.  Isn't that usually how it works?

On Saturday we took a trip with Grandma to the mall.  We weren't really looking for anything special ESPECIALLY since "Aunt" Debbie Givens sent us a 16lb box of 0-3 month clothes!  Oh my goodness - it was like Christmas and Birthday all in one day going through all of that stuff.  The only problem is our shopping hobby is out of the question for a few months anyway - we are strictly window shoppers for now which is SO HARD!!!

On Saturday night, Grandma and Grandad took Corey, Sydney and me out for my early birthday dinner.  They always let us pick somewhere special to go for our birthdays so I picked Maggianos in Nashville.  It was so yummy and we all left completely stuffed!  My favorite part about Maggianos is that you order family style which gives you SO many options!  You get to order 2 appetizers, salads, pastas, entrees and desserts!  Talk about choices - and I always love lots of choices when it's time to eat.

On Sunday we dressed Miss Sydney in her farm dress in honor of Daddy who had to go farm instead of going to church.  It is one of my favorite outfits and I thought it totally appropriate for that day.  Here she is all dressed up.  She totally looks like Little Bo Peep doesn't she?  :)

After church we had some good home cookin' at Grandma and Grandads and then Sydney and I thought Daddy might need some help - especially since Sydney was dressed for work.  Here's Sydney on her first tractor ride.  She loved it so much that she once again fell asleep - and it was a bumpy ride!  I'm telling you, very little phases this child if sleep is on her mind!  We finally got her to wake up before our work day was over.
She even got an escort back to her car from her favorite farmer.

Guess who I'm WILD about?

DADDY!!!  And my outfit proves it!  Here's me and my Daddy posing for Mama.

And here's what I do when mama makes me mad!

And here's what I do when Daddy says no to me!

And here's what I do when Daddy gives in and says "ok"!  I've already got him figured out.  That's why I'm wild about him.  :)

Sleeping through church

I understand sleeping through church is usually looked down upon but we were so proud of Sydney last Sunday (5/30/10: her first Sunday @ church) when she slept through the whole service!!  We hope this becomes a habit for several months, at least!  She was just perfectly peaceful the entire service.  She opened her eyes for a few minutes as soon as we got there so everyone could ooh and ahh over her and then she was out - just like we practiced! ha!  We didn't even take her out of her carrier which was the plan all along.  We were a little weary of people wanting to "handle her" and she just isn't ready for that yet, but that wasn't the case at all.  We only went to big church last week so this week we might try Sunday School too and see how she does in the nursery with Ms. Bea and Ms. Susie.

Here's Sydney being a little disagreable with Daddy before church.

And here's Sydney and Daddy with sun grins after church on the front steps before heading to Grandma and Grandads for our weekly Sunday lunch gathering.
