Just the 3 of us!

Monday night after supper the 3 of us got down and dirty playing in the living room floor!  It was so much fun!  Corey and I swapped up taking pictures.  We love getting to play around with the new camera.  Finally Corey said, "Get this thing away from me!" like it was a chocolate pie that he had too much of or something. ha!  We went a little camera crazy but we had such a perfect little subject to photograph...

Sometimes it's soooo hard for me to just stop busying around the house and do nothing but play, BUT that little wild woman is sure worth it!

what's up doc?

Today was Sydney's 9 month doctor visit.  We've been missing Dr. Fraser since we haven't seen him in 3 months!  Corey and I just love him and are so glad we chose him to be our pediatrician...and really, we actually are LUCKY that we only have to see him every 3 months.  We are lucky to have a very healthy baby.  We were the only ones in the "healthy waiting room" today and the sick room was FULL!  I wanted to put Sydney in a bag to bring her in so she didn't get "exposed".  Shew!
Silly face!
Sydney wasn't quite as fond of him today as she has been in the past.  When we laid her on the table for him to examine her she wasn't really pleased and started fussing!  He told us it was normal (why, of course!) and then proceeded to tell us what WONDERFUL parents we were and how we were doing such a GREAT job raising our little girl! ha!
Looking at the other kids through the window.
She has only gained a pound in 2 months which totally surprised us so she's slacking off in the weight gaining.  She weighed 20.5 pounds (75th percentile), was 28 1/2 inches long (75th percentile) and I'm not sure what the size of her head was but it was in the 90th percentile.  Oops...THAT she gets from her Mama!  Sorry little lady!

To our surprise, there were no shots this visit!  All they had to do was prick her big toe to check her iron.  It was so funny...they pricked it and she gave the nurse the biggest frown like NO YOU DIDN'T JUST PRICK MY TOE!  No tears though!

Yummy Rice!
Since she got pricked...we had to treat her to a yummy lunch.  I mean come on, it was soooo close and sounded sooo good!  SHOGUN!  She was finally big enough to enjoy with us.  She loved the rice and potatoes and of course, Walter is her favorite cook, too!
What's up Mama?!?!
Once again we are reminded at how blessed we are to have a beautiful and healthy daughter!!!

9 Months

We've had another wonderful month full of leaps and bounds as far as Miss Sydney is concerned.  She has tons of tricks up her sleeves these days and has made a major transformation from a sweet little baby to a happy, sassy, big girl.  :)

We'll go to the doctor on Monday to get all of her measurements but we're pretty sure she's hit and passed the 20 pound mark...at least my back tells me so every night after lugging her around all day.  We do think she's starting to slim up a little bit.  She seems to have a couple less rolls of baby fat in her legs...but I LOVE baby rolls! :(  12 month clothes are really fitting good and she's still in size 3 diapers.  I think the slowest growing body parts are her feet.  She still wears a size 2 shoe which I LOVE because we have been able to wear the same shoes all fall and winter so far.

Our vocabulary hasn't changed much in the past month but she IS saying her favorite 3 words a whole lot more!  Bye-bye, Uh-oh (every single time she drops something) and Mama.  We're still really working hard on Dada.

I am so happy to say that she has LOVED every singe type of food we've put in her mouth.  I realize this could all change but I'm crossing my fingers for a non-picky eater!  She's still eating cereal and fruit in the mornings, vegetables and fruit at night and nursing throughout the day PLUS little bits of tablefood every time we sit down.  She does NOT like to be left out at the dinner table!  She's tried biscuits, noodles, cheese, peas, carrotts, lima beans, whipped potatoes, french fries, rice, ice cream and pudding and loves all of it!  She also is very much in love with Cheerios for snack!  She's definitely a Thurmond child...her Aunt Nat and I grew up on dry Cheerios!!  Hopefully all of this is ok with doc!?!? ha!

Like I said earlier she's FULL of tricks.  She'll "give five", SOMETIMES kisses (open mouth right to your nose...it's great!!!), stick out her tongue (not being ugly...just playing...her Daddy taught her), make this hillarious "surprised" face, wave bye-bye, clap every time you say YAY (I have realized I say YAY all of the time), put her chin down to her chest for "yes", and "pretend" cough with Grandad.  Did I mention how much fun this sweet child is?!?!?!

Something totally new this month is her being clingy...shew, it can sure wear her Mama out fast...but I secretly love it!  She likes to be right up under my feet and most of the time in my arms.  And don't even think about letting us get out of her sight....are you CRAZY?!?  She is still happy and smiles at just about everyone we see, whether she knows them or not, but don't even think about reaching for her if she's not in the mood.  ha!

We're still army crawling at like 90 mph.  She'll get up on her hands and knees and rock back and forth for momentum, I guess, but when she takes off she's back on the ground.  She's also really putting a lot of weight on her legs standing up against things (versus the jello legs of last month) so we're waiting for her to start pulling up on things any day now.

Some of her favorite "things to do" these days are...dance anytime music comes on (she automatically starts kicking her legs like crazy), of course watch Sesame Street (I'll admit, sometimes multiple times a day BUT all other shows/cartoons bore her), play in a tent (she LOVES playing under a blanket), open and close doors, play with her new bath toys, and spend time in her exersaucer.  There's never an idle moment for this child...she's ALWAYS moving and into something!  Sometimes that's not such a good thing but we're adapting!

We've had some major "gear" changes too over the past month.  She's gone from her baby carrier/carseat to a big girl carseat.  What an adjustment that is for Daddy and Mama. It means it takes much longer to get her strapped in the car these days AND there's nowhere to confine her once she's out of the car...but we DO love it!  She's also outgrown the Bumbo seat in just the past couple of weeks.  It's not very useful  anymore when she can lean over and topple out of it...not that we speak from experience. ;)

Of course she's celebrated LOTS this month with Christmas and New Years!  Since we already posted about Christmas I won't even get into that GINORMOUS holiday BUT I didn't post anything about New Years.  It was a treat for us all!  Mama and Daddy went and stayed the night in Nashville and Sydney spent the night with Grandad and Grandma.  Grandma had to cater a dinner so Sydney spent the majority of the evening at home with Grandad and I'm pretty sure they had a BALL!  That's who most of her new tricks came from, actually.  Imagine that!  She absolutely, positively adores her Grandad and Grandma so much and that makes us sooo happy!

I KNOW I've left something out and that really hurts my heart because I know I won't remember these days for long, especially if she keeps changing so much each month, and I want to have this to look back on!  Maybe I've covered it all but I'm sure there will be something new tomorrow. :)

Sissy (we call her this lots for some reason?)...you're growing up too fast little missy!!!  I always thought people were crazy when you were born and they said to us, "I can't remember when little so and so was that small!"  Well, now I don't think they're so crazy!  You've grown into such a smart little "big" girl right before our very eyes.  I just don't want to miss a single second!!!  I guess it's a good thing you don't want me out of your sight cause we don't want you out of ours either!  We can't explain how but we absolutely fall more in love with you every single day, and that's a whole lotta LOVE!
 Love Always, Daddy and Mama

We showered Baby J today!

I helped host a baby shower for my sweet (he better be sweet! ha!) nephew-to-be, Jackson Lain Summers, yesterday. (1.15.11)  I hosted with 4 other ladies and we had it at the Franklin Country Club.

I have been in craft mode for the past two weeks just about every day getting ready for this.  We went with a brown/sage burlap theme (I'm now IN LOVE with burlap) and I kept finding little DIY projects on the internet.  I got a little carried away with my projects but they have some of the cutest things that you can make out of burlap.

I just have to share some of the fun stuff with ya'll...
Here are the centerpieces on burlap table runners.  I used mason jars full of black beans, made burlap flowers, glued burlap and ribbon around them and added a pretty flower!  Tah-dah!

Corey gets the hubby of the year award because he painted these adorable monogram canvas' for the shower!  Ain't he just a peach! :)  Then I made a "J" Monogram out of burlap and a hanger!  I'm thinking I soooo need a K for me!!!

I had to bring in the troops for this......Bonnie and Elizabeth cut about 5,000 circles for this little cutie-bug bulap wreath....but oh, it was so worth it!  (right, girls???)  It turned out wonderful!  I think it's gonna go on Jackson's hospital door.  Won't that be sweet!

Here are more of the centerpiece jars.  We just used them on the registry table with his monogram again.  I just painted wooden letters and glued them to wooden sticks.

Here's one of my favorites....I printed the What are Little Boys Made of nursery rhyme on a piece of burlap.  Love it....even if I do say so myself!

Here is the registry table all together!

Too bad the sun was shining through because this banner was so stinkin cute when it was dark outside!  Ugh!  It's none other than a BURLAP banner that says Welcome Baby Jackson!

My sidekick, Kacie, made these cupcakes with none other than BURLAP wrappers! Oh yeah!

And here's the spread that Bonnie, Elizabeth, Jackie and Kacie prepared.  It was yummmm-y ladies!

Here's me and my preg-o girl!

And my baby girl!

Grandad and Mary Thomas were on "Sydney duty" during the shower!  Thanks you two!!!

It was a FABULOUS day and I think Nat Nat was happy with it!  We all wanted it to be just perfect for her!!! Love you bunches, Aunt Nat Nat!!!

Hello Kitty

It's a cold, snowy day today so Sydney and I are in our "casual" clothes today since we're probably not getting out.  Sydney got this little Hello Kitty shirt for Christmas and I've been wanting to put it on her but haven't really had anything that matched on the bottom....so today we drug it out and wore pants that didn't really match at all! :)  Works for me! Her shirt brought back childhood memories for me that I just have to share...

When Natalie and I were younger we would often go to Rivergate Mall shopping with mom.  Mom didn't mind taking us because we were JEWELS while she shopped BECAUSE as long as we were good we got to spend the end of the shopping trip drewling over all of the Hello Kitty stuff in a store called Sanrio Surprise!  Oh my...it makes me want a Hello Kitty pencil sharpener and notebook just thinking about it. :)  Any of you remember that store?  Mom of course would treat us to a few items each time but I remember how it would always take me FOREVER to pick out just exactly what new H.K. item I wanted that time. Man we would spend hours in that store.  I'm wondering if I could talk someone into putting a hello kitty store in Green Hills mall????  Talk about a dream come true for Sydney and Mama!

Today we're just hanging out at home.  Right now Sydney is watching her favorite show, Sesame Street of course, and playing in her toy store (that's what our living room looks like).  I'm doing around the house, getting ready for Corey to come home for lunch and then hopefully gonna work on more stuff for Aunt Nat's baby shower.  Corey and I have been crafting all weekend trying to get some decorations ready for her shower next weekend! YAY!!!

Grandma comes home today from her 4 day trip with her sisters and cousins to New Orleans so we're hoping the snow doesn't delay her....we're having withdrawls!

Hope everyone is staying warm!

Christmas 2010

Oh yeah baby, we're still here and only 9 days behind blogging.  Shew!  Just about the time you've all recovered from Christmas (like me) I'm gonna bring back the memories and show off our Christmas Baby of 2010.

We actually had 7 Christmas' in 9 days so I'm just getting around to sharing with everyone...I've been unpacking toys and washing new clothes for the last week!  I'm gonna make it pretty short (lot less writing) and sweet (whole lotta pics) so that Sydney can look back and remember the FUN she had this Chrsitmas.

We started on Saturday (12.18.10) with the Burr Family Christmas at Grandmamas.

The the next day Corey and I hosted the Thurmond Family Christmas dinner at our house (12.19.10).  Those in attendance consisted of my Grandaddy's brothers and sisters' families.  None of the 5 Thurmond siblings are with us but we still get together with their families on Christmas and Easter to keep in touch.  We had 43 people at our house for dinner that night and it really went great!

On Tuesday (12.21.10) we had the First Annual Thurmond/Crafton dessert party (yummy!)  at the Vincent's.

Thursday night (12.23.10) we had Christmas at Papoo's with Corey's immediate family.  We ate pizza and then opened lots of presents.  Man did Sydney have a ball!

Friday night (12.24.10) was Granny Konow's night!  It's a standing date on our calendar...Christmas Eve at Granny K's.  Granny K had a toybox made for Sydney, like she has done for all of the other great grandchildren.  Corey and I had it painted for her and then took it over to Granny Konows for her to "open" or really just sit on! :)

On Saturday morning (12.25.10) Corey and I got up early to exchange gifts before Sydney woke up.  I must have been a good Mama this year because I got a brand spankin new Canon Rebel T1 from Corey this year.  Oh man do I love that boy...and my new camera!!!  I kept wondering why he wanted to exchange gifts first thing but figured it out after that!  He wanted me to have it for my Christmas Day pics.  So....you should notice a change in my pics from here on out! ha!  He said all I needed was a towel around my neck.  Not long after we exchanged gifts, Sydney woke up to Grandad, Grandma, Uncle Jamie, Aunt Nat Nat, us of course, and presents under the tree from Santa!  She army crawled her way to the tree and had a big time playing with all of her new stuff.  She didn't quite know what to think of everything around her but she "humored us" and seemed to love each new thing! :)

After she saw her Santa gifts, opened gifts from Daddy and Mama and got ready, we headed to Grandad and Grandma's for our Christmas Lunch AKA: FEAST.  Mom invited Grandmama, Aunt Shirley, Wayne, Aunt Barbara and Uncle Doug to join us for lunch and it was a wonderful time.  Sydney did great through lunch....she napped! ha!  That way she was ready to see what Santa brought her at Grandad and Grandma's.  After she played with her Santa toys the "big kids" got to open gifts and as usual we were all showered with WAY MORE than we deserve from Mom and Dad! (I secretly love being a brat...shhh!)  I mean it's bad when you get tired of openeing presents, right!?!?!?  hehe  We eneded up staying at their house so long we just ended up eating supper there before heading home to dump all of our goods...in the living room floor!  And guess what...for the first time in my life, that's where they stayed for more than 2 hours!  Actually, I'm thinking it took me more like 3 days to finally find a home for everything.  My, how a baby changes everything. Love it!!!!!!

Our last Christmas visit was at Aunt Linda and Deans on Sunday afternoon (12.26.10).  We always celebrate with their family and the rest of ours on the day after Christmas.  Check out the sweater...it's one of our fav's!!!

ok so now you see why it's taken me 9 days to recover!  Thank you ALL for the love you showed our family during Christmas and the gifts you showered upon us!!!  We are blessed beyond words with such wonderful family and friends and we love you all dearly!

Happy New Year...Love, The Konow's
