Daddy said I could...

A picture is worth 1,000 words, huh?????????

YES, it's chocolate pudding and YES that's her daddy letting her sample it. :)  I could do nothing other than snap a picture of the whole thing going down...and smile!!!!!!!

Baby it's cold

Actually it wasn't, we were just trying on a SUPER CUTE hat I got Sydney for the upcoming winter days.  I looked and looked and looked for this little thing and finally found exactly what I wanted on Ebay with matching boots.  It was listed as NWOT (new without tags) 0-6 Months from Gap...score!  Only problem is...when I tried it on her last week it BARELY fit down on her head. :(  I was so dissappointed but Corey did remind me she's no longer 0-6 M...oops!!!  So...if anyone can find one of these little seuade, sherpa lined, ear flap hats (whole lot of requirements) in a bigger size pleeeeeze let me know so we can finish out the whole winter with one and not just the next few weeks. ha! (unless her head doesn't grow?!?!?!)

7 months!

Well, we're over the halfway point and it's not slowing down any!  I catch myself actually having "memories" of Sydney when she was just born, or just a month old and that seems so strange...memories of my baby already!?!?

Little "fall" sweetie!
Speaking of moving fast...Miss Sydney is one active, fast-moving, in everybody's business little girl these days!  She doesn't miss a beat!  I have people tell me (usually on a daily basis) that she is one of the most alert and active babies they have seen.  She NEVER SLOWS DOWN!  She doesn't want anyone out of her sight, wants to see every person she hears and has at least 3 body parts in motion at all times.  What fun she is!!!

She's probably weighing in around 19-20 pounds (just my guess), wearing size 6-9 M clothes and still in 2-3 diapers.  We've been having a ball eating this past month, too!  She has cereal in the mornings and a vegetable at night (along with nursing still every 4 hours).  So far we've just experienced carrotts and squash and she's lapping up both of them.  We'll start sweet potatoes tomorrow, just in time for Thanksgiving week.  She loves sitting in her highchair to eat and to play in the kitchen while I do around.  She is still getting up to nurse at least once in the middle of the night and once early in the morning but she's excellent about going back to sleep.  If she gets up around the time Daddy gets up in the morning (5:30ish) she sometimes even gets to get in bed with Mama and snooze for a while longer but that's the ONLY time she gets in the bed with us!

Cereal with Daddy.
We think she is really close to crawling and hopefully sitting up on her own but she's not there yet.  She's still very content with rolling as her only mode of self transportation. :)  She has lots to say for such a small vocabulary which consists of mama, baba, and maybe a couple of times we heard papa.  Baba is definitely her "word" of choice and we have no idea where it came from.  We were both really hoping for dada soon but she just grins at us when we try to get her to say that.  We'll say dadadadadada and she just grins and goes bababababa.

Well, I'm finally happy with her television program of choice...hooray for Sesame Street.  I just happened to find it on one morning a couple of weeks ago and was impressed with the content (that sounds really corny I know) and apparently Sydney was too.  Corey had the brilliant idea that we should DVR them!  Perfect!  Now everytime she needs a little t.v. distraction when she's rolling around on the floor and I'm trying to get something done, Sesame Street it is!  Thank goodness no more of those tacky cartoons!  I love shows that she can learn from!!!

We spent a couple of weekends celebrating this past month.  The last weekend in October was Halloween and boy did she make one precious little cow!  She was spoiled rotton all in one night with lots of treats!  My oh my...how do I prepare her for Christmas??? :)  Then last weekend we had a birthday party for Papoo's 60th birthday which was lots of fun because we got to spend the evening visiting with lots of the family that we don't get to see very often.

What a sweet cow!
This next month is going to be a  crazy, exciting, but wonderful blur I'm sure as we celebrate Thanksgiving and prepare for Christmas.  I'm going to try to soak up every single moment (and have the camera and video camera handy for anything I miss) because I don't want to miss a second of this precious time with Sydney!

After her 7 month photo shoot.
Baby girl, you by far top Mama and Daddys list of things to be thankful for not only at this special time of Thanksgiving but each and every day!  Our lives have changed in such wonderful ways over the past 7 months because of you!  May you always know how much we love you and how thankful we are that you are in our little world!  What a dream come true!
Love Always,
Daddy and Mama
Hugs from her rabbitt...Daddy made up this pose. ha!

WORK with Sydney

"Tis the Season" (as Grandad says....usually sarcastically) which in catering terms means IT'S CRAZY BUSY around the Thurmond house.  I helped mom last year during the holidays while I was pregnant and it worked out pretty good and we've been trying to figure out a way for me to help out some this year.  Only challenge is, the precious, little, constantly moving, needing attention, making us smile, little girl that comes along with her Mama.  It's like we're a package deal now! :)

This week it worked out beautifully.  Tuesday she went to "work" with me and played in Grandmas kitchen all day.  She spent some time on her quilt playing with toys, in her highchair throwing her toys and tupperware on the floor for us to pick up and in her Jenny Jumper bouncing around. And of course anyone who came in the house (Mary Thomas, Grandad, Aunt Nat) had to play for a while!  She was completely in heaven with all of the attention.  Grandma, Elizabeth and I talked to her all day and she was lovin it!!!

On Wednesday she went to Aunt Nat's for the biggest part of the day while I worked and on Thursday she went to work with Daddy while we got through our "rush".

I'm really thinking I could get used to this.  I LOVE being able to work but I LOVE having Sydney with me even more...so when I get to work WITH Sydney it's a GREAT day!

Partying with Papoo

Well...we're back after a couple of weeks off from posting a blog! :)

Last night we threw a big ole birthday party for Papoo (Corey's dad) who turned the big 6-0 on Thursday!  Valerie and I planned a little party for him at his house and it turned out to be a great evening of fun, family and food...what more could you ask for?  Maybe a sweet, happy baby all night long???  Well, we had that too!!!

Sydney played all night long with all of the family and especially her cousins...

She laughed...

rolled around everywhere...

watched Papoo open presents...

chowed down on some yummy carrotts and drank water through a straw...

And then finally had enough....

We hope you had a great birthday Papoo and like Uncle Chad said...we hope to have 60 more great years with ya!  :)  Love you lots!!!

Happy REAL Halloween

Since we trick-or-treated a day early we dressed Sydney up in her church Halloween outfit for Sunday.
Happy REAL Halloween to you all.
XOXO,
Sydney

YUM! YUM!

Thankfully our first attempt at "solid foods" AKA rice cereal (doesn't seem very solid to me but whatever) was a success!!  Sydney ate it like it was old habit and gobbled up all 2 tablespoons :) of it.  She didn't spit it back in my face or refuse to open her mouth or anything crazy like that so it was an enjoyable experience for us all.

We waited to start until Sunday morning (10.31.10) so Daddy could be with us to witness the first feeding.  He video taped and took pictures while I shoved it in.  We were instructed to do everything in 5-7 day increments so in a few days we'll go to two cereal feedings a day, then we'll add a yellow vegetable, then change to another, etc. etc. We left the doctors office extremely confused and wishing we had taken notes or listened a little closer but I think we'll figure out something that works perfect for her as we try new things! :)

Cutest punkin in the patch

Or should I say - cutest calf in the pasture! :)

Sydney and Grandmama
Oh my, what a Halloween Day!!!!  We started our journey at 3:15 and headed to Great Grandmama Burr's house.  And the fun began.......she had a BLOWOUT somewhere between home and Grandmamas and we realized it when we took her out of her seat.  Aaaahhhhh!!!!  Poop was everywhere - her t-shirt, her stocking and even her costume for crying out loud!!!!  Needless to say I freaked and was ready to throw in the towel BUT with Daddys help (thank goodness he was with us!) we got her costume cleaned up (a quick hand washing) and then dried it as much as we could in the dryer while Sydney rolled around on the floor without a care in the world playing with Grandmama and chewing on the plastic skelaton and the handle to the pumpkin basket Grandmama gave her.  Shew!  Way to break us in right Miss Sydney.
Chewing on her new "toy"
So...we're terribly off schedule (not that anyone was trying to stay on a schedule but me - of course) so we had to make a quick stop at Auntie Mac's to say hi before meeting up with the Vincents/Craftons at the funeral home.  She posed with the boys and was showerd with halloween goodies from them all!!  She got a halloween basket with her name, a soft book, some baby food, a "FARM CUTIE" John Deere onesie and several other treats - my goodness!!!  They are all sooo good to her and she just loves them bunches!!!

After that visit we ran in at Pa's (Glespy's) and then stopped by Mammie's (Corey's Grandmother) so she could get some of the little cow's halloween sugars!

Then we headed to Papoo's to meet up with the rest of the family.  Jake is the only one who dressed up this year so we had to get the two tick-or-treaters to "say cheese" with Papoo.  Of course Sydney racked up again with all kinds of treats from Papoo & Debbie and Uncle Chad, Aunt Valerie, Katelyn, Caleb and Jake!  She got all kinds of fun stuff....new sippie cups, spoons, books, toys, etc.  My gooness, you would think it was Christmas!!!  Thank you all bunches!!!!
Papoo grinning at his boxer and cow
For our final leg of the halloween journey we headed to Grandad and Grandmas for some yummy soup and sandwiches and lots of visiting.  And you better know she got more goodies - a new DVD from Aunt Nat and Uncle Jamie and then a whole bag of treats (cd, outfit, toys, cups, etc.) from Grandad and Grandma.  As usual - they all spoiled her royally!!!  And some day they'll blame me for her being a brat?!?!?!  j/k  She loves you all and all of the spoiling you do on a daily basis!!!!

What a fun-filled FULL night of trick-or-treating.  After all of that - we took our little cow home for a good night's sleep.  Thank you all so much for all of your Halloween treats - we love you all so much!!
The Fowlers were at Grandma and Grandads and Sydney was relaxing with Uncle Jeff :)
